• The FCDO warns of scams such as the 'tea tasting' or 'massage' scam, where friendly strangers lead travelers to an establishment that demands a large fee, sometimes followed by threats or credit card fraud; travelers should also be cautious of QR code phishing given its prevalence in China.
• Solo travelers, and especially women traveling alone, should avoid leaving drinks unattended or accepting them from strangers, since the FCDO notes that drink spiking and sexual assault are rare but possible, and should exercise added caution when out after dark in unfamiliar areas.
